Run flats

I will be buying new tires soon for my 2013 and I want to stick with the runflats since I need the storage space for equipment where the spare would be so I don't want to add a spare tire kit and lose that.

I need all season since my driveway is a bit muddy all the time

I have been looking and I cant decide what to go with. It has eagle f1's which is summer only tire and not so great traction wise.

The ones that have some promise are :

Scorpion Verde All Season Run Flat

Continental 4x4 Contact SSR (was factory for it from what I can find)

Anyone running these or have other suggestions?

Smooth ride (probably not happening), traction and lifespan are the areas I am interested in.

Stuck with run flats on my 08 E70 too and bought DUELER H/L 400 RFT all seasons. Not a mudder tire by any means, but has done me pretty well on some muddy drives and isn't too harsh on the highway either.

Thanks for the info. Those a bit to tame tread wise for what I do. Would be great if I was using it for highway only from the reviews.

Hard to go wrong with Conti's. Just don't expect a smooth ride with any runflat. Which wheels do you have?

I have 20s and run Continental DWS non-runflats. The difference in ride and performance from the runflats is not small. I carry roadside assistance on my auto insurance (which I have used because of a tire failure) and all good.

I’ve always had a distaste for run flats, but since I don’t have a spare I’ve gone back to them. Currently running the Dunlop Sport Maxx as they are about my only run flat option and I have to say I’ve been pleasantly surprised. I ran the original set to the bone before putting on Pilot Super Sports and even then they were surprisingly quiet and smooth. The Pilots wore pretty quickly so I gave the Dunlops a second try and thus far haven’t regretted it.

I have a recent set of Pirelli Scorpion Verde RFTs and love them. I recently had a major sidewall blowout after hitting a huge pothole. With the RFT I was able to drive (slowly) the rest of the way home, pickup a spare I saved from the last change and then to a tire store a few miles away. All this was with a hole in the sidewall I could literally stick my entire hand in.

The best part? Pirelli replaced the tire for free under their road hazard warranty. Not many tire manufacturers do this.

I don't need tires atm, but it will be hard to pass Conti DWS 06s when I need them. They are about $275/tire at tirerack.com (315/35/20) with a 560 tread wear rating, and have gotten pretty good reviews. They are not runflats, but I can plug a tire relatively quickly and be on my way until I get it patched at a tire shop.
