Roof rack delete options?

Who has done a roof rack delete here? Did you use X5M roof rails? Or another supplier?

Any thoughts on this?

Im confused.

"Delete" means 'get rid of' or 'take them off' or 'no longer have roof rack'

but you link to a Chinese counterfeit of possibly an M style rail...As if 'delete' means 'change roof rails'...

Anyway...

Do you know HOW to change roof racks? or install them? Or delete them?

ALL involve completely dropping the headliner... its a BEAR

I wish to remove the regular style rails that e70 comes with and install a set similar to e70 X5M. Thus the link I provided.

Yes I know how to change roof rack, Ive dropped headliner before. Just curious if many people have done x5m rails or have used the china rails.

Ah, the 'delete' confused me. My first X5 had a delete, which was no rails at all, just a trim strip where the rails mount.

I dont think Ive see a rail change posted here or on bimmerfest, but I might have missed it.

Report back if you try them...I'm ok with $10 Chinese parts, $350 not so much.

You would be better off finding a parts E70 with the Msport pack or a junked X5M and get them.

Even the factory ones are plagued with the ghosting of stains on the surface after a while. I can only assume the Wing Wang parts will rust in a few months.

The funny thing is that my x5 does have the M sport pack, but this one was ordered with roof rails as it has a charge for them on the original window sticker.

Buying new X5M rails is a pricey avenue, I havent been able to find an X5M for part out, thus my question about the china rails. I was concerned about them rusting as well but I would get them powdercoated black before installing which would alleviate any issues with coating that they come with.

Any thoughts?

Having the M Sport pack doesn't necessarily mean the Satin roof rails. Your build code is missing the 3MA option code.

I would try looking on LKQ website and see if they have any on there. I would keep scouring ebay for parts cars with what you are looking for. I bet if you find a parts car with the rails you want, they will end up being the same price as the chinesium counterpart.
