Replacement key fob

Getting ready to sell my 2007 X5 and I have misplaced one of the key fobs. Local stealer wants $500 for a replacement...I've seen some uncut ones on ebay for $25....any other suggestions please?

Thanks

Not likely to recoupe the money you spend on a new key... Thinking that way suggests to me you are a top notch seller and probably wont have your car long anyway.

Order from https://thebmwminipartstore.com/
It was $263 for me last year.
Use ISTA to get Comfort Access to work (if you have it)

I purchased a 2nd one off of ebay last year.
Is there a way to program it myself, (like with Carly)??

Program comfort access with Carly? Not sure, probably not.

To get CA to work on the new key, you just disable the previous lost keys. If Carly has an option like that, then I suppose it would work.

How do EBay keys work?? Thought there was no chance for that to work.

I found one on Kijijijijijij. Somebody had returned their leased car, and forgot to included the second key FOB. I think I paid 5o bucks for it. Then some punk stole my winter coat at a restaurant. I'm still bitter... it was a cold night too. Never got a chance to program it. Find one for 5o bucks, and include it with the sale, un programmed. That way, you have done the hard work, let the new owner figure out the programming.

No, finding 1 is the easy part, programming it is the Hard Part.
Does anyone on this forum know what to use to program it??
I'd like to program the one I picked up on Ebay right now,
Any ideas from anyone ??

Just quoted $388 by local $tealers for a replacement. Saw plenty of refurbed/wiped ones on the web for $150 -$200 and a comment from seller that you take it to the $tealers and tell them it is from a "Parts Department" and they SHOULD program it for around $150.
Think I'll just go get a new one and bite the bullet. That way it will work and I have some sort of redress instead of buying from some here today gone tomorrow website.

And if you get it from the stealership. It should come with a two year warranty. If you are selling your car, ask if it a transferable warranty? Not trying to be petty, I would love to know.
ie. I found out my shops mechanics are unionized. Who am I contracting with? BMW North American, the dealership principals? My union Stewart, shop forman?

I think these are both true for standard Non-CA keys. I have not found any confirmation that you can take a used CA key and restore CA function to a different vehicle.
