In my opinion, there is a lot of mileage left in that tyre, certainly far too much to even consider changing them yet...... I guess it comes down to personal choice. Over on our side of the pond, we have yearly MOT tests, which are becoming stricter and stricter, and tyres are certainly high on the list of being checked for safety (and rightly so), but that tyre would pass without any problem. I would go on a few road trips before autumn arrives then check them again.

Lot of life left in those tires. Do what makes you sleep better. If it was me, I would keep running with those tires.

I would too if I lived in Austin. Once winter arrives I often drive into the mountains that have snow conditions. I know those aren't snow tires but more tread helps. It's not worth risking an accident for $200 (of remaining) rubber.

Mine are about the same. Will be fine until winter. We have the same weather
We've talked alignment before...with 25k on those I'd say you would get 35,40k down to wear bars? If so, the aligment looks good (assume all look similar) Sometimes I will save the best tire in each size as an emergency spare. Maybe not if they are toast, or only a mm or two above. But having a tire to use while you research new rubber; order new tires, etc, is a nice to have. I've got a barn and shop, and plenty of space thou.... |

I always run them to the wear bars since it doesn't rain down here in So Cal.

Tire technology seems to have improved lately. My latest set of 19" Michelin are super close to the wear bar at 50k miles and wet traction is still very good. I am normally like you and prefer to change them earlier rather than later. We get 80" of rain per year here.

So is that tire wear pic above a good example of a properly aligned X5? Shouldn't they be even? Or is that not possible for a staggered setup?
