How much oil?

I have a 2012 X5 5.0. I have read that when the add oil message shows up, I can add two quarts of oil? I have always added one quart of oil and that runs the “green” bar gauge to full. My question, would adding two quarts overfill?

If your electronic oil level sensor is accurate, and performing properly, adding two quarts should be ok. I believe it is a(relatively) new BMW recommendation
