Sub Amp install Wiring
I want to toss a few subs and an amp I’ve had laying around into the X5. Factory sound is great, so I’m not going to touch the existing system, just looking for some wiring info to connect a line level rca converter for input to my amp. Anyone do this in a 07 X5? Wiring help is greatly appreciated.

Which audio package does your X5 have?
I searched around and found a very detailed wiring tutorial for tapping into the factory subwoofer speaker wires.

I believe it has the premium sound package. There is a Cd, DVD Nav Unit, cd changer in glove box.

This owners manual has a good wiring diagram in it:
https://www.audiotec-fischer.de/en/m...ifiers/up-7bmw I installed their 8" plug and play subs https://www.audiotec-fischer.de/en/m...kers/mw-8bmw-d under my seats. Dramatically improved sound. In fact, I had to go back in and put Dynamat under the passenger seat sub, because the sub was literally making the sheet metal vibrate. |

After some searching tonight I came across this post:
https://xoutpost.com/articles/x5/ste...ctory-amp.html I will take a peek at my factory amp tomorrow to see if it matches up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

You were right the previous link I posted is not for E70. If I’m looking at the page below from the link you sent, it does not correspond to my harness, primarily going by the numbers on my OEM harness, and where the power / ground are (power pin 10 / Ground pin 20) it doesn’t match up. Might have to use the old AA Battery and an Ohm meter to figure it out. ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Ok, just poking around with the harness I’ve come up with the following. It was easy to determine the speakers, but with no markings on the speakers themselves for positive / negative it’s tough to tell the polarity. In order to check this you would have to see each speaker to tell if it is moving in or out when AA battery is applied. I was able to verify polarity on the rear trunk pillar speakers as it was easy to remove the plastic trim to reveal the speakers so in the chart below I marked them accordingly. This should be enough info for you to hook up a line level converter.

Anything with brown should be the negative terminal on the speakers. Seems strange that the pins don't match up, since the amp is marketed as plug and play. I was thinking about adding an aftermarket amp as well, but am really pleased with the results after upgrading the front doors and the subs with these speakers.
