Can't find Paint Code anywhere?

I need to touch up some chips, scratches, etc before winter, and I can not find the paint code on my 07' X5. My 335 has it plain and simple under the hood, but not so simple on the X5. I searched the forums, and they say under the hood, after the vin on the drivers door vin sticker, even pulled the plastic skirt off under the hood to look at the firewall, NOTHING! My 335 is Saphire Black Metallic, and I am 99.9% sure the X5 is the same color, but I could be color blind....

Run your VIN through a free online decoder to find out.

I believe it is on the drivers side engine bay partition (thats where mine was). This is a part that fails due to poor design and may have been replaced.

There's two COMMON shades of black for BMWs-
- 475 which is your 335's Black Sapphire Metallic, and there's also...
- 668 (named Swartz2... German for Black2)

There's actually more but these are the 2 common ones. I want to say that you're right about your X5 being 475, as I do not recall seeing any X5s with 668 (but not saying they do not exist). Definitely put in the VIN on an online decoder as was recommended earlier!

Can’t believe I didn’t think to use a vin decoder, nor was there any directive to do so in other posts:
