Hesitation - Slow Turn

Hi

I have an X5 3.0 si with 180K KM. Lately I have been noticing a hesitation when accelerating after a slow turn. I can replicate the behaviour roughly 50% of the time.

It happens when I'm doing a right turn (left turns require a full stop) and the X5 is coasting right before, when I'm about half into the turn, I try to accelerate and the engine clearly hesitates for a second before reacting. Note I'm not flooring the pedal and the car never gets to a full stop. This happens sometimes specially on inclines and just after the car has been coasting.

I found a couple of old threads here but there was no resolution or outcome posted afterwards. There are no CEL lights.

Any pointers or has someone experienced the same behaviour?

This sounds similar to a transfer case issue - unplug the VTG actuator on the transfer case and drive the car (you will have DSC lights etc on dash but its ok)

If the behavior goes away, your issue is the transfer case

Thanks - need to figure out how to unplug it (checked RealOEM but no idea how to reach there). I have been checking it more and I will be more inclined to believe it is some sort of engine issue.

Besides the lights/transmission errors, is there a risk of permanent damage when unplugging the VTG actuator? what is the side effect? just the car becomes rear-wheel drive only?

Thx

No permanent damage - its just RWD only and you'll have faults on your dash when its unplugged
