I'm glad you are starting to think about the ground connections as a possible issue. That's where my mind went in the troubleshooting. I know there are a lot of ground points to check, but with any electrical issue you should establish known good ground as well as supply, then work your way through individual circuits from there.
Obviously with the grouping of components having a box in common, checking for any potential physical damage in the surrounding area is wise. A short could potentially cause strange issues like this as well, although you would expect to be blowing fuses. Verify that your fuses are correctly sized or they may not be providing you with the fail-safety they're designed to provide.

I had a look at newtis schematics for passanger seat heating which does not work for me. I can trace power on 20 A fuse going out but cannot see the same power on seat module connector. It would appear under seat connector x279 is not making it properly. Since it is not very easy to get to that connector without removing the seat I wonder if this is common fault.
