35d performance tune

So many options, just want to see if anyone has/likes/dislikes one tune/chip over another. One of the things I would like to see (which I don't see any of these doing) is on the fly adjustments, from inside the vehicle.

I know for a fact that Andrew Rodriguez who manufactures the BuzzKen DPF/EGR delete exhaust for our cars recommends JR Tuning for the 35D....

You did not list them but they are listed on his website for 35D tunes www.fixmyvw.com - guy is super helpful and big on VW TDI (which he recommends Malone tunes)

I have the burger JBD on our X5 (2011) and love it. 30k+ problem free miles. Just make sure you take it out (takes literally 30 seconds to install/remove) before you take it to the dealer! For $280 I don't think you can go wrong. I have it set at 80%, got the engine light at 100% and it seems to have just as much pep at 80%. I tow my wakesetter with it in even.

On the fly adjustment? Whats the point on a diesel? I see the value on gasoline where you can switch octanes, but there aren't any high cetane diesel tunes.

With that said I have JR tuning stage 2 on my 335d and like it.

I've debated the merits of a performance tune. As a first-time diesel owner, but long time SUV driver, I'm already so impressed with the performance of the diesel over the gas SUV's I've owned in the past, that it's not worth the hassle.

Seems like an ABC delete is the real performance tune. For my money, I would probably look at going that route...or at least that's my plan.

with the on the fly part, but the Burger and now newly released Dinantronics piggyback tuner for $300 shipped and installs in 2 mins, its more convenience as well as removability for warranty concerns I believe -

I'm still debating what tune to do on the 35d while the factory warranty (8 months left) and the CPO is still intact - I might wait till all is expired and just do the deletes and tune for it at that time -

Yeah the diesel's perform well stock.

I've had a JBD (burger tunning) and it noticeably improves power especially over 3K rpms. It makes the car much more gasoline like where the power continues to rise as speed increases. You can buy one used for $100, best bang for the buck.

I have moved on to a JR Tunning Stage 2, with EGR block. I did this to stop CBU which is a major issue on these engines. I'm also tuning out various components now that my car is no longer under warranty as they fail. Some things maybe covered by various warranties and some aren't. But at somepoint the item will fail, and you can decide to fix it or tune it out. Its good to have options.

For what it's worth, I think the JBD helped snuff out some issues with ours while under warranty still. I obviously removed it (once in a hotel parking lot across the street from the dealership) before taking it in for a check engine light. I've had both DEF tanks replaced, the HPFP replaced and the EGR replaced all under CPO warranty. All with new superseded parts which I haven't had an issue with since and it's been 15k+ miles. I'm not sure if the JBD helped uncover the issues or not, but asking more from the motor and finding the weak points seems to make sense in my mind.

Nope, and it will probably never be one, due to the complexity of tricking many multiple sensors in real time to match what the DDE thinks the derived/measured values should be. The only thing most piggy backs do is trick the fuel rail pressure to increase fuel quantity injected. Some claim to adjust injection timing and boost pressure but no one has actually show any benifit to this with a piggy back. Basically all piggy backs perform the same, the only difference is price. I ran a JBD for a long time, it works as advertised.

There are plenty of tunes that can remove the EGR/DPF/SCR. If your concerned about warranty by a second DDE and have it cloned. Then tune 1 and swap back and forth as necessary. IT really only takes about 20 mins to change out a DDE, its pretty simple and requires no special tools.
