Locked out after Comfort Access Handle replacement.

I was getting the High Battery Drain issue and I tracked it down to a bad Comfort Access Handle on the driver's door. Based on another thread I decided to remove the handle and cut the wires. Everything seemed to go smoothly and I reassembled the handle and closed the door. Big mistake.

The door will not open. No combination of central locking, inner handle or outside handle will open it. I managed to peel back the door card and shove a long screwdriver down and press on the actuator lever but that did not work either.

I think I can remove the external handle by accessing the allen bolt from the gap created by opening the rear door. But I'm not sure what I should do after that. I really don't want to remove the seat and door card if I can avoid it.

If anyone has any idea what I did wrong and how I can fix it I would forever be in your debt.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Jim

To anyone else who runs in to this issue it turns out you can access the allen bolt with the rear door open (thanks to my brother for giving me the idea). A small allen socket works best.

I removed the lock assembly, tried locking and unlocking with the key fob and the door still would not open. Then I popped the lock assembly back in and it opened! I must have change the state of the lock when I had the lock assembly removed the first time.

The battery drain issue is resolved and I don't have to climb in and out of the window anymore. Happy Thanksgiving!

No, not on that door. The handle was hot to the touch so I assume it needs to be replaced. But I don't really care too much about that feature so I cut the middle wire on the handle (not the wiring harness) to disable it. If I decide I miss that feature in the future a new painted handle will cost less than $300, or I can swap the back door handle to the front.
