Water Temp Permanent Display

Hey all. I think I remember awhile ago that you can get the water temp to display permanently. Was I wrong? And if not, what is the procedure to do it? Thanks in advance.

I think you're wrong. You can get into the diagnostic menu (secret menu) to see coolant temperature. That's the only display I'm aware of.

Thanks for that. I saw how to get the secret menu but I was "hoping" I could get it to display permanently.

Are there any E70s that have a temperature meter instead of the stupid consumption meter?

I was just thinking the E39 M5 has an oil temperature meter where other E39s have a consumption meter. With a cluster swap and some coding, a non-M5 can have a temperature meter, too. I wonder if something similar can be done with the E70.

There would have to be a temperature sensor to use and the code/wiring would have to exist.

I also ponder installing a trio of aftermarket meters at some point.

In the meantime, I use a ScanGaugeII plugged into the OBD-II port.

From the factory that is correct but stay tuned...

I am playing with a hybrid E60/E70 gauge cluster that will have oil temp and/or the moving tach line for the e70.

I just haven't had time to finish the project given that I had to replace my engine and have only been back up and running for about a week and a half.

Only issue is that the annoyingly sensitive e70 power monitoring will complain about the obd adapter standby load. I'm looking to rewire mine to get 12v from a switched source

LOL! No I am just used to driving vehicles that have a lot more gauges to show you what is going on within my vehicles' engine. I like to stay on top of things.
