Intermittent oil leaks, possibly from oil cooler.
Registered UserJoin:*Dec 2018Posts:*8 5 days ago*· #1 Hi. Last week while stopped at a red light a strong smell of burnt oil came through my heating vents. When I got home I opened the hood and saw that there was oil on my alternator and other parts, it appeared as though the leak originated from around the oil cooler. (See attached pic) A few days previous I had just randomly checked my oil levels, via the idrive and it showed levels down about 3/4. On the same day that I smelt the oil I checked again and levels were down to where I needed to add 1 litre. I brought the car to the shop and they cleaned up everything around they then took the car for a drive and left it idling for a while but no oil leak. I've been driving it now for 3 days and no other leaks???? 2011 x5 35i N55. Thanks |
