Also....

Lots of counterfeit parts...cheap crap, copying Bosch parts, Bosch "made in" ingravings/moldings...even copies of Bosch packaging. Before yoiu decide Bosch is at fault, consider it might not be theirs. Im sure youve already launched into Bosch with the evidence from a trusted indy. But maybe he ddnt really get genuine bosch.

Oh, RM may not be aware. Or they might.

Its a problem....

I think he installed only one plug. I also have a Bosch made Slovenia ignition coil from Amazon. Worked for me during diagnosis of other issues.

Need OP to clarify. I did see he exchanged #5, but still wondering what plugs are in the car.

Not to be argumentative, how do YOU know it really was Bosch made?

Just saying....

Good question. Came from Amazon itself as the seller. I’m guessing a larger verified supplier? But just an assumption. I really don’t know. You are right.

Got it working using original 0221 504 100

I also have a 2004 330ci E46 which turns out has the same original 0221 504 100 bosch made in germany coils. Which by the way have a silver cylinder section unlike the all black new ones 0221 504 470 made in Solvenia which do not work.

I swapped in a 0221 504 100 coil from my e46 to the e70 and everything is good ... no DME codes. By the way the one bad coil caused these three DME codes 2E28 29CC 29D1.

I went online and checked via Amazon the 0221 504 470 are the current offered part number for both my E46 and E70 three of which failed for me.
First one was from seller bosch on amazon, next two via RMEuropean whom I trust.

I have now ordered two used 0221 504 100 ones via ebay. I will now go stick a 0221 504 470 (new bad one) in my E46 and I expect it to also fail (miss) there too. I have a email into bosch corporate, I will post again as I learn more. Whew the multiple bad new coils caused me a good bit of trouble I as I assumed they could not all be bad. I should have swapped coils in diagnosis early. The three fault codes also had be worrying my problem was more than just one bad coil.
