Front strut correct positioning
I have looked at the TIS and simply find it slightly ambiguous in the way the direction arrows go. The previous owner has let monkey boys loose ont the vehicle sadly, so I cant rely on or trust whats been done before me which is why I'm just checking before I reinstall the complete assy's. I have copied the bit from the TIS in question and wonder if someone could clarify which way they go, simply because the direction arrows point in opposite directions which is where my confusion lies. In drawing 1 the Left strut, Stud bolt 1 is denoted as the one opposite the recess where the pad is keyed and its stud bolt one which points in the direction of travel, so I take this to mean the hole nearest the front of the vehicle? Whereas in drawing 2, the Forward arrow on the right strut now points the opposite way which in the diagram. So does this mean that stud 1 which now has the pad key aligned in its recess below, is also located in the hole thats nearest the front of the vehicle? I guess I'm more annoyed with myself as I read up extensively before I attempt anything and mark or photograph anything I consider necessary to avoid any confusion. So I would be extremely grateful for any guidance |

Yes. You're over thinking the diagrams (probably long into the project, I've done this sort of thing many times). They are both saying the same thing, but with the front of the vehicle reversed.

I just did this. I found that the strut mount bolts only fit into the body of the car one way. basically the 3 studs are not equidistant from each other. With the only way they would go in, the notch was in fact not pointed straight ahead, but at about a 45 degree angle to straight forward.

Many thanks for you reply. I have just got one side in and never realized they only fit one way, which is good to know. |
