Transmission problems ?

Had car on sloping drive and put into drive while holding footbrake. When I release electronic parking brake button car refused to go into drive and changed to P a few times. Message about rolling back and put foot on brake etc.
So pressed auto hold and a message with auto with cross thru it appears.
Tested with ISTA-d no issues except brake fluid low.
However Foxwell shows code on EGS gear switch lever. On engine transmission system.

Also notice when put into park and switching off car jolts to apply parking gear on slope.
Is this normal or do I have a transmission problem waiting to fail. Done 76k miles

When you were on the slope was a door open? It will display that message if a door is open and you try to put it into gear.

I don’t think the door was open but I’ll try again with all closed . Seems strange Foxwell is giving EGS error

On a slope the second you take foot off and then hit accelerometer it rolls back even though it’s in gear so it jumps to park instead thinking it’s gonna roll back.
Ie the drive was not engaging fast enough so it shifts to park to safeguard car

Transmission fluid level good????

No battery issues? How old is it?

What SPECIFIC code (BMW number) are you getting?

If you reset the vide, does it clear? Does it come back right away? Same begaviiur on flat? Or if parked the opposite direction?
