Passenger airbag recall

I still haven't done the passenger airbag recall because of hearing people having issues afterwards.

Those who have done it:
- do you get more rattles now?
- any electrical or connectivity issues?

Just curious as to what to look for if/when I do it.

Rattles... God the Rattles.

Coming from behind the cluster. Will disassemble someday and correct what the dealer did. Someday...

I had it done this past July. No issues what so ever. With 168,000 miles the car continues to be trouble and rattle free.

Had mine done at around 140k miles, I think. Have 155k now and no issues or rattles. My dealer does good work and the SA said 'they have a guy' who's good at this work and is pretty much the only one who performs the recall work.

There is a single dash attachment bolt in that area. Open the drivers door, pop off the access panel on the side of the dash and tighten the silver bolt. The next closest dash bolts are behind the i-drive or on the bottom edge of the dash. My bottom edge were missing after the repair but it did not rattle.

Crowz will become famous soon enough
I have a few hundred of the recall notices stacked up but I haven't had the guts to let them touch it yet. I guess I need to get it done but I just don't trust them to put it back together right.

Took mine to Rockland BMW by accident (usually go to portchester). Got the car back after a day and now my glove compartment doesn't open all the way on its own. I have to help it open up... SMH! They couldn't fix it to make it normal again...

I went to BMW of Bayside service center in great neck.

They did a great job!
I had an x3 loaner which was ok but my x5 35d gets better mpg despite having 2 more cylinders and much more weight and aero drag, lol.

I felt the same way, but then I looked at it from the standpoint that someone I cared about could be seriously injured or killed. At which point I had to come to the realization that I could never live with that over my concern for scratched or damaged dash panels, or irritating squeaks.

In the end it went smoothly. I do sometimes notice a vibration in the dash pad that I don't recall being there before, but its inconsistent, and only and idle (it is a diesel, so).

Had the idler pulley bolt recall done at the same time (35d thing), for some reason it completely slipped my mind to have them change the Serpentine belt while there were in there

I didn't dare ask the serp belt because they'll charge the time for labor. My belt is only 2 years old, a dayco, only that I could find nearby at the time. Still looks like new.
