E70 heater fan loud noise in cold.

Has anyone had a very loud rotational noise from the heater blower motor when the temperature is really cold? My 2011 X5d (99k miles) made this loud noise that varied with fan speed when I started the car last week with the outside temp at 19 degrees. It happened again the next morning at 21 degrees. I just gave it a try, now that itís about 45 degrees out, and no noise at all.
It sounded like it had no lubrication and bearings or shaft were rubbing like crazy, it with no noise now, Iím not digging in there unless I know what needs to be done. Has anyone experienced this?

In my E90 I had a similar/same issue. Took out the blower and added some lube to it (The shaft portion) and it went away. Not sure if the same can be done for the E70, but I dont see why not.

I did and I replaced the blower. It was at lower speeds and pretty much all the time.

Thanks for replies. I guess I’ll look for the YouTube video that explains how to get in there!
