No acoustic tones - after car went to sleep

Hello,
I have bmw x5 e70, 50i N63 engine. My problem is that everytime i start the car in the morning, i get "No acoustic tones" message on i-drive and my sound doesn't work. BUT when i shut the car off and locked doors, then after i unlock and start car again in like couple minutes, sound starts working. Everytime its like that.
Theres are no codes on ODB scan.
When sound is working and i lock the car for longer period (lets say 30 or more minutes), sound will not work on start and "no acoustic tones" message will pop up.
It appears that everytime car goes to sleep, on the next start sound will not work - no acoustic tones message. During the day when im not let the car locked for more then 20 minutes, sound will work normally on every start-up.
BMW servise in my country said that the problem is in the amplifier. This should be the Top-hifi system amplifier. But my question is - if the amplifier was bad, the sound should not work all the time ?
When i want sound to work in the morning (or after longer time that car was locked), i simply shut ignition off and lock the car for 1 minute and after that i unlock, start the car and sound works.
Does annybody have similar problem ?

missed this.

Not surprising no OBD codes...but likely there are BMW specific codes and/or module related codes.

In terms of 'amplifier'.... this isnt a dumb, 'input/output' amplifier, like you hook up for most car stereo systems.

For example, when you turn off all your audio, the tones STILL 'play' through the speakers, right? Which means the amp doesnt just play what comes from a pre-amp or from the head unit. There are multiple inputs AND there are logic and controls.

I dont know it your amp is bad, but just wanted you to know that it definitely could be, given how they work.

Thank you for your reply.

Yeah, i know that amplifier in this car isn't just simple amp for stereo.

"For example, when you turn off all your audio, the tones STILL 'play' through the speakers, right?" - if you mean when i nute the radio (or CD etc..), yes the tones for seatbelts, warning tones and so on will still play, BUT when i get the no acoustic tones message in the morning - NOTHING will play, no tones no radio etc....

"I dont know it your amp is bad, but just wanted you to know that it definitely could be, given how they work. " - yeah amp could be bad, but like i said, when i restart the car, the whole sound will work like it should be and next morning (or after car went to sleep) will not work again (no acoustic tones message)

And there is a new thing i found out...

In my first post i said that in order to make it work i have to lock and unlock the car - this is not needed. All i have to do when i get the "no acoustic tones" message is to turn off the iDrive system (with start stop button) wait 1 MINUTE and then start the car and sound will work. BUT system have to be turned off for 1 minute.
If it is just turned off for less than 1 MINUTE (i have tried 30 seconds, 10 second etc...) sound will not work.

I will record a video and post a link.

Try this

https://www.motor-talk.de/forum/akti...hmentId=701225

I know you are focused on the details YOU CAN SEE. Like how many minutes and seconds something takes and what it does...

But the question is “is it the internal HiFi amp electronics that cause it to respond to and generate these tones? If it is the amp itself, then the amp has issues”

Thank you very much. I will look at that document.

Sure i am focused on things i see at the moment. But i just want to find the root of the problem and be sure about it, before i spend 1000+ € on new amp and will not fix the problem

Consider a used part.

But I do understand the desire to have a definitive diagnosis....

Only time we ever received no acoustic tones warnings were when the battery was on its way out. No other symptoms. Replaced the battery and haven't seen the warning since (about 2 years).

Not saying the battery is your definitive cause. But worth taking a look at.

Funny thing was that I posted this about 3-4 years ago in two other BF threads.. and then forgot about it!!

The BMW charge/voltage control system may in fact starve some items on the buss when the battery is low.

I suppose you could do a deep charge with a proper charger, see if that changes the behavior. If it fixes fora a while, but then it returns, but a new battery.

I want to say it was your post on BF that directed me towards the battery to begin with. So thank you.

I did not do any voltage tests, but there were other cases I found as well (e60 maybe?) so figured it was worth a shot. The battery that I took out was 5 or 6 years old already so figured it was time for that anyway.
