The BMW charge/voltage control system may in fact starve some items on the buss when the battery is low.

I suppose you could do a deep charge with a proper charger, see if that changes the behavior. If it fixes fora a while, but then it returns, but a new battery.
Vehicle definitely had low battery due to short trips and i was getting low battery messages on iDrive. Battery is 2 years old
I have tried fully charge the battery with charger, but it didn't change behavior. So i suppose battery is not the problem.

ANOTHER thing i found out couple days ago is that when i get "no acoustic tones" message (no sound) and then i restart (or reboot) iDrive by holding radio volume button, sound will start working like normally would.
No need to shuting off the engine or locking and unlocking the car, as i thought.

So the problem could be in CIC ?

Not saying the battery is your definitive cause. But worth taking a look at.

My battery is probably 2 years old, i don't think it will be the problem. But it could be. I'm getting "battery charge very low" messages when the system is on for like 5 minutes with engine off. Vehicle is doing lots of short trips, which does not help neither...

But i have tried to fully charge the battery with charger - it didn't help with acoustic tones problem.
Atleast have fully charged battery at the moment, which is not a bad thing i guess ...

^It could be? I'd still buy a new battery, install it, and see what happens. If no change, return the battery. If that's a thing in Slovakia anyway. The one in your truck could have been a lemon that only lasted a couple of years. Who knows.

Haha yeah, it SHOULD be a thing in Slovakia. Parts stores around here are usually happy when you buy 300 € battery from them, but not very happy when you wanna return it.

But you right, battery could be shite even if it is around 2 years old.

If you are getting a battery low charge warning even with a fully charged battery, how can it be the CIC?

^Yeah, that's why I added the ? at the end. Replace the battery, see what happens. The truck is telling him the battery is low on multiple occasions. Whether that's a problem with the battery, a result of short drives, or a problem with the charging system is another matter. But quickest test for me is the battery replacement. It's relatively cheap too if you can code the battery yourself.

That's another question... When the battery was replaced 2ish years ago was it coded? Type? Capacity?

Sorry guys, i probably didn't say it properly.
I WAS getting low battery messages BEFORE i charged it. AFTER i fully charged battery with charger (4 days ago) i'm no longer getting low battery messages, BUT the sound still doesn't work. Sound only works when i reboot iDrive like i said earlier.

The battery was replaced around 2 years ago (2 and half maybe). Local shop was doing replacement together with some other things (EDC strut and control arms). It was before i started working on the car myself.
Battery is 95Ah AGM. They said back then it was coded, but one can't truly know....
The problems with sound started around 6 monts ago.

Ouch. 300 euros, I can understand not wanting to go for the battery first then. Here a 95AH AGM group 48 (49? can't remember E70 battery size) only runs ~$130.

You're going to have to pull the BMW specific codes to troubleshoot without changing parts then. Have anyone that can read them for you?

for 130 € here you can get no name brand (made in Poland) battery, but these are junk even brand new.
The quality ones, like BOSH, they run 300 + €, but you can get them discounted for ~220 €.

Looks like i will have to visit BMW dealer again and ask for codes.
Last time i was out there i forgot to ask for codes, i only said that the sound doesn't work and there is "no acoustic tones" message on iDrive. (At that moment i had no idea the sound will work after rebooting iDrive)
They scan the car and guy said: "It's probably the amp, we had couple of these cases here before"
They said new amp is ~1100 € AND if that doesn't solve the problem, radio with CIC will need to be changed.
So i was out of there

Why not buy your own code reader?

Asking a dealer to pull for free is usually pointless. Hard to trust them.

Look at it from their point of view- why should they spend 10 minutes on you for free?

FOxwell makes good scanners
