Solved: Dynamic Stability Control malfunction
For the last 8 months I have been getting intermittent Dynamic Stability Control malfunctions. A common factor was driving for over 30min on the highway.this fault never occurred in non-highway driving.
Each time I noticed shutting the vehicle off and then starting it immediately cleared the fault (until I drove another 30-40min). This suggested it wasn't the ABS sensors or steering angle sensor.
During this time I noticed my steering wheel was biased to the right by about 3 degrees. Not much but I thought it might cause the vehicle to find fault because the motion of the wheels wound not agree with the steering wheel angle.
Yes I did reset the steering angle sensing several times, without benefit.
So, I had a good shop check the algnme t and meticulously center the steering wheel relative to the front alignment. Since that time I’ve had no more “Dynamic Stability” faults. I drove 3 hours today thru sometimes heavy rain towing a big trailer, and car ran flawlessly.
The Alignment only cost $120.
