Engine Code Problem

Hoping someone can help - I have a 2011 X5 XDrive 30D and the engine light has come on and it has bought up 2 engine fault codes on my scanner.

The only noticeable thing with it is it has a shudder in the engine when you switch it off. (not a soft shut down like it supposed to have)

First code - 4CAE - Exhaust-Gas Recirculation Controller, Position Sensor, Signal

Second code - 4DF9 - Throttle-Valve Actuator, Position Sensor, Signal

I've taken both the EGR valve and the throttle body valve off and bench tested them to see it their working and they both seem to be working.

I took the car to the BMW dealer for a diagnostic check and they told me that both parts need replacing.

Is there anything else that could be causing these codes to come up as I want to check first as the parts to replace are very expensive and I don't want to replace them and find I still have a problem.

Thanks

Mal
