Backup camera repair

After months of an intermittent working backup camera, I finally pulled it out. I found no obvious signs of damage.

Anyone how to fix this?

Yah, I’m leaning towards throwing it back on if I can’t fix the failing unit or get lucky on eBay.

Isn't there a high resolution plug and play replacement?

That would be nice. ^ thought I’m content with this 13 yo camera. I usually use it when I want to get really close to an object without hitting it like squeezing into a parking lot and continue backing up even after the backup sensors are continuously beeping(which is about 6-10”).

Because I wasn’t able to find a replacement less than $300, I decided I’d live with an intermittent working backup camera.

But before I put it back in, I took some time to search for a short/kink or abnormality and found what seems like a repair in wiring. I installed it and moved the wiring around while in Reverse and got the camera to show a picture when straightening the new connection circled below. I decided to get remove the clips holding the harness and attempted to get the small kink in the repaired part of the wiring and zip tied it. Hopefully this continues to work, otherwise, I’ll re-solder the wiring. Hope this might help anyone experience an intermittent working backup camera.

I don't think that is a wiring repair. Mine looks the same. And also the same on the CCC/CIC end.

It gets more interesting!

Did you have issues with your camera?

I had some intermittent issues but I am not sure if it was the camera, wiring or emulator. I had a CIC retrofit with an emulator to activate the old pre-lci camera. I have since replaced it with an LCI camera, module and junction box. I can now see in the dark .
