Two ideas:
Try a BMW specific code reader. Dont call it a 'truck'. |

Thanks Ard. Very helpful
![]() Anyways, I am calling the Dealer today and hopefully go in on Monday to check it out. I will post back with the results...... |

Right.
It is closer to a car than a truck. As I like to say, people that call the X5 a truck have never owned real trucks. ![]() Say, its an SUV- why not call it an SUV? But back to the OP- did you reset it and the same code comes back? Unless you have a warranty, why go to a dealer for a simple code read? They can turn a loose gas cap into a $375 'evap diagnostic work up'... |

Ard, SUV it is :-)
And yes I cleared it and it has not come back. Reason that I am going to the dealer is that I still have warranty left but can't get in till may 11th or so...... |

The dealer will not see an active code, but I think they can interrogate the DME and find history.
BMWs do funny things as batteries get old... Otherwise normal running but weird voltage fluctuations that can trip spurious errors... Keep this in mind. Batteries not covered by warranty, dealers can rack up $500+ chasing it down. GL A |

You maybe right. I was thinking battery as well since it is an 09 after all but will find out. Have to bring it in regardless since I also have a cracked piece of wood and also some rattling from the exhaust shield. Can't wait to see what they have to say..... |

Be careful what they get you to agree to, on the estimate line. I've heard "Oh, warranty will cover it but just in case we put down $200"
Based on historical reports, if you do a lot of short drives (under 10 miles) it will accelerate battery wear. |
