Driving on the wrong side of the road
I live in the UK, and our annual holiday is to drive through Europe (France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Poland and diagonally across Ukraine to the Black Sea coast). Then of course there is the return trip, all in all about 5000 miles including trips while we are in Ukraine. Driving would be a lot easier if there was a camera and monitor that could be mounted/pointed on the passenger side, allowing the driver to see past slow moving traffic etc, allowing safe manoeuvring to overtake without relying on the passenger to make the sole judgement of whether it is safe to pull out or not. I was wondering if anyone had tried fitting something similar, and if so, what did they use ??? |

Wrong title......should be: driving on the right side of the road but in the wrong seat... :-))) j/k
Many years ago (early 80s)as part of the application for my first job I had to pass a driving assessment in London! Being from continental Europe this was one of the scariest experiences I had up to that point! (The job was actually not in the UK.) Fast forward to 1988, with the same employer I took up a position in Aberdeen. Took my '83 323i with me on the ferry to Hull and drove the rest of the way. I got used to driving a LHD on UK roads but it was never comfortable until I switched to a RHD car. Spent 3 years there and was comfortable flipflopping between LHD and RHD. After that only the occasional trip to Australia or the UK has required revisiting this skill..... I'd say you need a USB camera connected to a large tablet or iPad to make that work. Great idea tho.

I saw a horizontal periscope device many years ago that allowed one to see when driving on the "wrong side".

Thank you for your response, that appears to be exactly what I was thinking/asking about.

Surely any 3rd party reversing cam will do that at a fraction of the cost?
