Changing Spark Plugs; identifying Part

Hello Everyone,

First time here. I’m completing the job of changing my spark plugs but while removing other pieces my socket fell down the side.

Can someone assist in identifying this part and some tips on how easy to remove. Also there is a little white locking mechanism that I am struggling to put back.

Thank you.
