^ Thanks.

Really want to confirm he has stock plugs.

The oil in the plug wells is a bummer, if true. $$$ to fix. OP, did you do plugs or a shop???

Hey guys, sorry for going ghost for a while but I did change the stock plugs. I replaced them with OEM type Bosch plugs. When I took it to the shop, they replaced a couple plugs with different ones... not sure the brand off the top of my head. The only thing that is stock still are the fuel injectors. I always get 93 octane when I am fueling up, so a previous owner must've gotten bad gas before me. Also, the X5 sat on a lot for a few years before I purchased it about 3 years ago.

#8 can be a pita to change...not saying this happened, but I've seen where they plug & coil don't get changed when the rest are because the person just can't get it out.

I'm having this issue myself right now. The coil hits the side of the engine bay wall before I can angle it enough to get it out. It's not hitting a hose/pipe/part that can be removed. It's literally the metal on the side of the bay. I'll figure it out, but in the mean time I'm running new plugs/coils in 1-7 and old (unknown age - from prior owner) in #8. Weekend project...

The boot side of the coil should have some flexibility and of course for the removal you could cut the rubber part: see if the new one has more flexibility to ease install. Look on YouTube for same engine/chassis combination to see what others have done.

It wouldn't surprise me if PO skipped #8 when they couldn't remove the coil.

I personally changed all 8 plugs and coils, I do agree that cylinder 8 was a pita to change the plug. Good luck with #8 though

I got both the coil and plug for #8 out, this is when I saw the oil all over the plug. Not sure if the shop I took it to got it out but I would hope they got it out.
