Side Mirror replacement

Hi all I have a dead motor in the passenger side mirror of my 2008 X5 3.0d executive the tilt up and down function does not work. I have watched numerous youtube fixes but not sure if I want to go down that path I can get a 2nd hand complete unit from wreckers but have not found any YouTube vids on how to replace the whole unit. How hard or simple is it to replace the whole unit?
Manny thanks Keith

Did you replace the whole unit?
I was about to and found that the existing ribbon strip was bent, folded and crimped...i straightened it out connected it and The Damn Thing Works!
When you assess the design... it's ingenious.
