New xDrive35i owner
Been looking into retiring my old e53 X5 for something a bit newer and I have been considering a 2013 x5 xDrive35i. I have a few different choices as far as color, interior color, options, mileage, price, etc. But my question is what are the top 3 maintenance things I should look out for when purchasing one of these SAVs at the 100,000 mile mark? I'm not new to BMW as I have owned not only my e53 x5 but also a 2003 330i ZHP which I loved and most recently a 2007 335i e92 6spd which is my current daily. I wrench on all my cars and have a few decent scan tool options to use so I am not afraid of getting my hand dirty. I have done the "search" but just thought I would ask the community on what they would say. Thanks in advance |

If these are not new Water pump, thermostat and rubber connecting hose, belts and pulleys, valve cover & gasket, oil filter housing gasket, oil cooler gasket. Front seal protection plate. "Micky Mouse" connector on the hose going to the head Changed from plastic to aluminum. Transmission fluid & filter. Check all power steering hoses for leaks. Plugs and coil packs. That should get you started. I'm sure somebody will catch everything I missed.

I forgot oil pan gasket in the list I gave you also VANOS solenoids. Be careful if you remove the hard fuel lines to the injectors. That was one of the "little things" the indy who blew our engine wrecked along the way. New hard lines are one piece and cost $800. Injectors "should" last 150K according to what I have read.

From experience I would avoid the first year of release of the f15 - which is 2013. Perhaps look at the 2015 or 2016 and above where it's hoped that early issues, if any, have been (quietly) addressed. Sent from my SM-G990U1 using Tapatalk |
