Active steering fault....

So lately, the E70 ('07 3.0si) throws the active steering fault error, only after having driven it for a bit everyday.

In the mornings there is no error. Usually pops up in the afternoon. Probably after 20 to 30km of use. When I switch off the engine and restart after a few minutes, it's gone. Until another 30km or so.

Given the car steers to the left, but this has been like so for a year. Only recently did this error show up. Its the sports suspension type.

Could this be an alternator issue as some have noted, or wheel alignment or suspension items?

The fact that the error pops up only later in the day, then goes off after switching off and on.. is
a bit confusing.
