Anyone know what this is?
It's a 3.0 engine. When I shut down the X and get out, I hear a humming from that box that goes on for about 5 seconds, then stops and repeats after about 30 seconds, keeps doing that for a while. I'm guessing it's some time of air valve maybe, and possibly why she hunts to find idle when I first start her up. Thanks |

Intake resonator/silencer. There are no moving parts inside.
The sounds you hear are likely from the motorized throttle body. This is not unusual. |

I appreciate the quick response.
Do you have any other info? I searched but didn't see anything? Easy DIY? |

Info on what?
DIY for what purpose? The hunting idle at startup is likely a vacuum leak. Any cracks in the resonator and ducting between the MAF and the throttle body would cause the MAF to under report air and cause idle and drivability issues. The humming isn't unusual and if there is no check engine light I would ignore it. Have you checked for codes? |
