So I've been having a few issues lately with my 07 30d.
First, my power steering started making some really weird noises some time ago. The best way I can describe it is like when a liquid is trying to pass through a tight space at a high velocity. When it happens I feel a strong oscillation at the steering wheel too. If I steer lock to lock it's gone. What I noticed is that it only happens when I steer with the brake applied i.e. going down a mountain road, for example, or simply when parking the car. We changed the PS fluid reservoir and it did not help. Any ideas as my mechanic is clueless too?
Second, my car died on me yesterday (technically it did not but it left me stranded in the wild) - we basically went for a mountain trip and when we arrived at our destination, I had a feeling that I should check if the car is OK and it was not - alternator was NOT charging at all and the battery was at 35%. While I assume it is the voltage regulator that needs to be replaced, why did the car not let me know at all there is an issue? If I did not randomly decide to check it, we would have been left on the road on the way back for sure.
