Headlight lenses replacement

Prior owner gave me a set of new headlight lenses for the x5 since he never got around to replacing old ones with them. Was curious what is the cost these days to have them replaced?

Back in 2010 I had that done on my e46 at a dealer for $500. Buuuut with inflation...not sure what that service costs these days.

The dealer will price you a new headlight as they don't do that kind of work. It is a lot of work as you have to either put the whole thing in an oven or cut it with a Dremel tool and then remove the pieces, clean and re-install. There are plenty of videos in Youtube if you search.

Dealers dont repair the headlight lense- it will be an all new part

1600-2000 **EACH*** plus 3-4 hours labor ("what with all the programming and calibration that is needed")

3500 to 4600. Dealer pricing.

You should ask, just for giggles.

PS There is a reason the seller never did it...it is a finicky PITA job.

Find a local company that does headlight resurfacing. Make sure they clearcoat them when done. Should be around $100-$200

Exactly. There is no need to replace - that is what I've learned.
