![]() I have two BMW X5 E70 3.0D LCI 2012 and 2012), both have the same fault code: 49A6 - LIN bus Communication fault The first car (2011) had problems starting on cold morning, with lots of white smoke… For this car i bought a new Beru glow plug module and fault was cleared 👍🏻 The second car (2012) has no problem on cold mornings, no white smoke… On the second car I did the same procedure and fitted a new Beru Glow plug module, but the error won’t clear…(no other error codes on this car at all) (Maybe it’s a faulty module…but it’s a brand new Beru GS108) Has anyone had this fault and found any other solution than to replace the glow plug module? What was the problem? Extra information: In ISTA-D both the old and the new Glow Plug Module (in car 2012) reads: Current status of preheating control Reference field dependent glowing Power consumption 6553.5W |

FWIW... sometimes the glow plugs go bad and THAT kills the GP module.
When you replace the module and not the GPs, you *may* find the module failing later... Replacing them all at once is the best practice. On the second car if one GP is a dead short, it may be causing the new module to still error... Just saying |
