HUD with android (Xtrons) install
I picked my wife up a 2008 X5 today to replace her E53 it has the ccc I drive and I'm looking at swapping out the screen to the android Xtrons unit and it states you retain original functionality with her reversing camera and things but I can't find confirmation the HUD works as it should along side as I know its controlled in the setting on the original I drive so before I drop a few quid on a unit I'm hoping someone has experienced the upgrade who also has HUD. Thanks in advance |

HUD should be no problem. I don't have it on my E70 but my E60 M5 has HUD and it works fine with an Avin head unit. Most (all?) of the Android head units let you access the CCC/CIC system.
The factory backup camera is likely a nuisance. It will work when the head unit is displaying CCC/CIC, but that won't happen automatically when going into reverse. I removed the factory backup camera on my E70 and installed an aftermarket one that connects to the Android head unit since I use it with CarPlay 100% of the time. |

Ah thanks for that,
I also have the factory reversing camera so I'll add a replacement camera to my order. |

Wiring is a pain but worth it. I didn't take pics of my E70 install, but I cut a steel plate to cover the factory camera cutout and put the aftermarket one there. For E60 & E90 I purchased cameras that are integrated into the trunk release handle.
