N52 E70 X5 Oil Pan Gasket Cost 2023

Who's had a dealer or indie replace their oil pan gasket recently? Wondering what kind of prices you're paying for this big job. Thanks!

N52/N55 pricing probably similar

Repair pal it's my go-to for price estimates. Ouch. I think like e53 the CV axles go though the pan so it's a brutal labor hit.

On e53 there's a trick to cut the gasket to install without total disassembly prob similar trick with e70 but most shops won't do shortcuts.

Had an indy do it earlier this year for $2K. Really big job for a $100 gasket. Axle through the oilpan complicates matters no end. GM owners also know about this.

Nothing better than doing DIY on these to save ourselves thousands of dollars. But this is one job I think is better handled by a professional with a lift.

Hmmm.... since I did this myself on my wife's X3, I guess I'm in line for another bicycle or a couple new firearms!

AM.

I took a look at our estimates from a while back for the oil pan gasket job.

Our local BMW dealership estimates while getting inspected:

April 2022: $4,150.16

September 2021: $3,722.00

I saw at some video’s from DIY, and I now my way around a car, but this is realy a hell of a job. I think I mine would leak a would go to a BMW special repair shop, the mostly have lower labor costs.

I also read a lot about it, but a almost never read something about checking the bearings from the crank and pistons. I would be something I would check.

I'm at 170,000 miles changing the VC today. When it comes to the OPG I plan to change the rod bearings at the same time. Adds like 3 hours.

Yep! Changing my rod bearings resulted the OPG replacement. That’s the way to do it. Two birds, one stone.

After the crazy thread where the oil pan had micro fractures I will consider replacing the pan when I do the rod bearings.

Changing the VC and plugs and boost solenoid today.
