Steering Wheel Play and Knocking Sound

Hey guys, recently notice my e70 4.8 steering wheel makes a knock or klook sound when I turn the steering wheel at 10 oclock angle and rattle it up and down. it also happens at around 3 oclock. it doesnt happen at 12 oclock or 9 oclock. basically only at certain angle. It also feels like there is slight play or something is knocking at those angle when I move/ rattle the steering up and down.

Could this be due to some loose bolt or nut? steering column locking nut, steering center shaft bush ?

For sure check for anything loose but on the E53 it often is the #7 assembly that needs to be replaced.

x2. I tried lubing it, tightening the connections on both ends of the shaft (#7) and still had play and a distinct knocking sound. A new shaft was the answer.
