I am in dire need of help getting into my 2008 x5!! I am currently stranded without a vehicle!!
Being totally transparent I read on a bimmerfest forum that administrators on this forum have information on how to get into a deadlocked x5!! Here’s my dilemma… my key fob is damaged so it no longer works and I only have one fob. I have just been using my key to manually lock and unlock my drivers door but as of yesterday the manual key cylinder is no longer working. The key is freely spinning in the lock cylinder and not unlocking the door. I have no other manual key entry points on my x5 either. I called two different locksmiths and unfortunately neither could get it unlocked and I am in an area where there are no BMW dealers close by. Besides being stranded, my daughters school computer and all her assignments are in my x5 and she is heading back to school in a few days!! I am at a complete lose as to what to do! Would someone be able to send me the information privately on how to gain access to my car?!?! I am desperate at this point and breaking a window isn’t an option as I can’t afford to replace a window right now!! PLEASE HELP!!

I have posted several thousands of posts (and read 5 times more) in e70 x5 forums and have never heard of such a thing. I would price out glass ...see which is going to be the cheapest (don't assume it is the smallest). Break that one. yes, I know you said you cant afford it. on other cars, I have been able to flex the door enough to pry a door seal open and thread in a rod to hit the lock button. The E70 may be too rigid, if you have a yahoo do it, you may get a bent door and/or failed weatherseal... (Prolly shouldnt have fixed that key fob. Im guessing ice/water and use caused the key cylinder to fail...) Sorry, not what you were hoping for.... (FYI- I pulled up to costco to refuel my F250 diesel. Got out, started. Dog locked the doors. Cell inside. Cars backed up 8 deep. Friging mess. Tried to find someone with 'stuff' in theri car to pry the door and wiggle in a stick or rod or very stiff wire, finally borrowed a phone to call my wife. She was SUPER unimpressed.) |

There is away for the E53 but no idea if it will work for the E70 and I didn't know this was still a problem with the E70 ??

I found a thread on here of a guy having the same issue I’m having with his 2002 x5. In the comments he stated a member named Ed had sent him the secret trick to getting into his x5! I am unable to upload a picture of the comment on his thread to this post but here is the link!
https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...oogle_vignette I know that what works on the 2002 x5 may not work on my 2008 but it is worth a shot to try. If my last resort is to break a window, I will go that route but I would like to exhaust all possible options before I break a window… any help locating the secret trick for the e53 would be really really appreciated!! |

your link is no good. 2002 is the prior version of the X5, aka "E53" version made 99-2006
the e70 is 2007-2013 |

Thanks for the info everyone! I was able to finally get in.
Pulling just the handle doesn’t work as the cars deadlock system was engaged which requires pushing the lock button and pulling the door handle twice all at the same time in order to disengage the deadlock. The two locksmiths that came out were unable to get the car to respond… thankfully I was able to get ahold of some locksmith tools from a friend and on my own was able to push the lock button and pull the handle simultaneously and the car finally responded and unlocked!! Now off to get the key cylinder replaced and my fob fixed!! |

On my 2011 the door doesn't double lock so I would prob try the tried and true method of bend the door and use long rods to manipulate the inner handle. Just need to pull once to unlock then un bend the door. It's very hard to unlatch with the door bent.
It would be a lot cheaper to replace the small part of the door handle where the lock cylinder goes so if all else fails drill/saw that off and you can use a screw driver to unlock the door. If you have battery power you can just use you finger if the arrangement is similar to e53.
