2012 BMW X5 35d M57 diesel spun main bearing

Whelp,
Looks like I need to sell my car for parts. spun main bearings. don't think this would be repairable without major $$.

I am guessing the bearing split should not be on the bottom of the cap.

M57 diesel engine.

Anyone have a wrecked car and need a roller?

Wow. How many miles? Any history of note? What were the symptoms that led to opening it??

What color? Rolling it to California might be a challenge tho...

$5800 for a rebuilt, just the first hit I found. My wife's x5 has 199,600 miles on it. Id drop a rebuild (or have one rebuilt) in a heartbeat. Car with a blown motor is probably worth a few $k....so adding $6k, id have a car that will go another 100k easy.

no warning. On the freeway and boom. California is a little far. plenty of interest on the east coast. I have been chasing an injector issue and thought I hydro locked the motor. I was wrong. I have just never ran across spun main bearings. Rods all the time. crazy.

That sucks terribly. How hard are replacement motors to find? I don't know anything about the diesels.
