Catalytic-converter conversion/conversion 2 codes unlikely bad cat
Leaving this for the next guy like me
![]() I've been getting 29f5 and 29f4 codes from my 2007 e70 4.8i for the last 2 years or so with the occasional 2b70 DME: Variable intake system, activation code. I read on here that the 2 catalyst codes were likely a result of the intake issue but I didn't get the intake codes reported vary often so I was skeptical. Long story short, i picked up 2 of the intake control motors on the back of the intake and replaced them this past weekend and the issue is now resolved. I had read on here that replacing the 2 intake control motors was not possible without removing the intake but I can confrim after this weekend that it can be done with the intake in place. It takes some time and is mostly done blind, but it can definitely be done in place. The 2 new parts along with the one on the right all have the barb horizontal but the left one is offset. I dont know the failure mechanism but i had to turn the intake piece to align it for the new one to drop into place: https://imgur.com/Z5FrSID Last edited by arb; 04-17-2024 at 03:20 PM. |
