Question 3.0si - Missing plastic part in engine bay

Hi there,

been reading the forum for a long time - really great resource !

A small first post now from myself: my E70 3.0si from 2007 seems to be missing a few plastic parts in the engine bay. I was able to identify that this sealing gasket is missing: 51237161345.

But I am struggling to find the plastic part underneath on realoem.com

Can anyone help me identify this missing part?

This is my engine bay:

And here is a photo of another engine bay where Ive circled the part Im missing:

Thank you!

I think parts 10 and 14.

Look on eBay much much cheaper. You'll likely have to slightly modify the holes for the fasteners. I plan to do the same as mine are worn out.

Thank you! That looks correct. I am very surprised though: does that mean its not a missing part for me but that my parts "wore down" so much that half the plastic is missing??

No. You are missing the parts. Mine are just worn so they no longer hold on place correctly.

FWIW...those parts were molded new by BMW using defective resins..these parts crumbled and failed. Whole sections would break off. Perhaps a prior owner pulled the debris off to make it less noticeable?

What ard describes is exactly how mine were when I bought my 35d. I had to find a similar picture to realize what I was even missing. I ended up buying all 5 pieces (including the two small outer edge pieces). Now I get cool air coming through my interior vents rather than the hot engine compartment air.

AM.
