M-sport rear fender flares

I'm a quite new owner of LCI E70 40d M-sport Space Grey (10/2011), Criollo full leather interior. When trying to find a replacement for my E53 I would have preferred the non M-sport looks which is actually a bit strange when virtually on all other BMW models the M-sport looks hands down better. Still other specs were more important and all the available vehicles with required specs like Dynamic drive, suitable interior, etc. were M-sport models.

The one thing that really bothers me is the rear fender flares. It's unlikely that I would install 20" wheels with wider rears even for summer tires. Now running 19" Style 298 as winter wheels. With smaller wheels I would need at least 20 mm spacers to make it even close. And to be honest the rear flares are a bit extreme and out of proportion on the vehicle lines when they are colour coded and not the black ones. The front flares have a quite nice flow quite similar to F15. The rear flares are also unpractical on narrow places if you have to load/unload something from the back seat and you can't fully open the rear door.

So the real question is are there any after market options available for M-sport which would have rear flares more subtle (like on the original front ones) or has someone modded the rear flares to make them not so cumbersome?

I'm thinking the easy fix is swapping to the standard flares, you might even find somebody local that wants to trade though odds very high you'd end up with black. Also, if the fronts are also bigger on the m-sport you would prob need to swap all four to have a unified look.

40d: score. That's got to be fun to drive! We had 2012 50i which is a beast! Now i have 35i which is a Goldilocks "just right" solution for gas.

It's very difficult to get diesel models in the USA but i would have loved to get 40d v 35i.

I think the flare connection (contours) to sills and bumpers is quite different in M-sport and basic version. So installing just the regular flares is not a suitable direct option. And like said I like the M-sport front flares and their lines. Just the rear flares are too much and too bulky. (Changing the bumpers and sills just to have different rear flares is not a viable option.)

If there are no after market alternatives to think of I might consider doing some modding combining the base and edge of the rear M-sport flare with front contour.
