E70 35d White Smoke on Startup after VCG
I have a 169k mi 2012 35d that I recently deleted and tuned. Shortly after tuning I had the valve cover gasket let go spraying oil everywhere including a lot of oil into the intercooler. Initially I thought this to be the small turbo failing so I ordered a small turbo center section and replaced that along with a new valve cover gasket and all the injector o rings and copper washers. I tried my best to stick a fluid extractor down into the intercooler and pump out excess oil but only got about 50ml from each end tank. After all this work I still have excessive white smoke on startup (smells like burnt oil) and there is more oil in the charge pipes than there should be. I also observed leftover oil in the big turbo inlet when I remove the intake elbow.
Could this indicate that when my valve cover gasket failed it blew out the seals in my large turbo? The weird thing is the smoke largely goes away once it's warmed up. When I get to work in the morning (20 min drive) I can free rev the engine with no abnormal white smoke, but on cold start in the morning it smokes out my whole driveway with an abnormal amount of white smoke even for a deleted car. I know oil smoke is usually blue in tint but with the oil in the charge pipes it seems like it might be burning off at a very high temperature making it whiter in color.
Any insights?
