Whistle 2007 X5 Spy shots(NEW!!)

I think I can live with the new X5
Note: this is still not the real deal pic.. but the headlamps match what you see on the test-mule pics (click my page link below to see pics) and so does the rear spoiler angle and side view.

The text translated from german using Google;

"Very decent change for the BMW X5. The second generation SUV from residents of Munich becomes a careful advancement and more harmoniously than the current X5. The longer body has place for a third seat row. This when desired electrically adjustable bank diminishes the trunk volume, makes the X5 however the seven-seater."

Wavy scoops and arbitrary radii do not dominate the picture, but a clear armature landscape also cleanly integrated Navi screen and large round instruments. Also from the portion are far improved iDrive , an electromechanical parking brake and a mechanism selector lever, which sit, where he belongs: on the transmission tunnel.

Those want to further remove this projection/lead by technology native of Munich by the dynamic xDrive all-wheel drive. The new system controls the situation-dependent torque distribution in all four directions: between the axles (in front/in the back) and between the wheels (left/right). One distributes as a function of slip and crosswise as well as longitudinal acceleration. A goal are not only optimal traction and stability, but also the decoupling of the steering element of drive influences.

First only the system planned for Europe promises with reduced emissions a consumption smaller around at least ten per cent. While the 4,4-Liter-Sauger is to carry 394 HP out, the more potent Biturbo has the ML 63 AMG (510 HP) and the Cayenne turbo S in the visor (521 HP). The volume models are content as had with the row six-cylinders, which might mobilize maximally 272 HP as Diesels and as Benziner.

Nearly at the same time with the debut of the larger and more expensive X5 BMW revises the X3. technical built in Austria does little, but the popular Crossover makes optical in the future more ago. Because to nothing more moneys one earns than at expensive extras, there is a conservative-dynamic sport package and a extroverted-dynamic m-package in the future also for the x-models. Second, then completely new edition of the X3 is expected 2010. With hardly changed dimensions, but but with stimmigeren proportions, more love for the detail and with genuine Premium Interieur.

The new X6, which is to go to 2008 into production and for a sales volume by 50.000 units per year is appropriate already, fulfills these criteria. The coupéhafte Fuenftuerer ranks concerning the price and image-moderately over the X5. Available space corresponds against it rather to that of the X3. new is the rear seat plant, which can be ordered alternatively for two or three persons.

As source of inspiration for the X6 the noble Nissan Infiniti FX45 served: high belt line, roof portion reduced large wheels, broad cheeks. But while in Japan SUV in the back if necessary still children can sit, the X6 spoils the rear passengers by its noble club atmosphere

In order to improve the driving dynamics, the technicians want to reduce the weight in the comparison to the X5, lower the emphasis, which reduces clearance and which cars with sport package, active steering element and larger brakes to offer.

During motorizing the new Turbos stands in the foreground. From the stage loading profit not only the achievement, but also the torque , which form a imposantes high plateau with approximately 2000 routes. At the same time partial load consumption is to be lowered clearly. While the small turbo fills the gap between six and eight-cylinders, the large turbo aims into the niche between V8 and V12.

How does it continue to go with the x-family? The X7 in the style of the AUDI Q7 was put on ice. Here the high developping costs stand in critical relation to the demand, which might amount to only 25,000 pieces per year. Then is there still the X4. The chances of a SUV Coupés between X5 and X3 depend on the success of the X6. Meets in the black, a Coupé on basis of the next X3 would be a light exercise. With which the document X would be however not yet compellingly closed. Because also below the X3 a similar concept is conceivable.

The lights on final version should be close to this test-mule pic.

Ich bin ein undecided. Not swooning yet. Possible scent of design compromise in the air.

It's ok, but doesn't grab me. Maybe the design will grow on me in time. A more muscular body would have been welcome.

It almost looks like an X5 with an E90 front and rear grafted on. Nothing very ground-breaking here. Maybe Bangle's still reeling from the criticism and decided to back away from his flame surface design?

I like it!

No third-row seat for me, though...
