Nope - you'll need an X3 if you want a stick.

Based on?

Since the E70 will use the E60 platform, and since models from the 520 to 550 are available with a manual transmission, what is your reasoning?

wagnerx5 is of course right. speculating, forming opinions, and asking questions is certainly outside the scope of an automotive forum. and the administrators, who specifically opened this forum 8-9 months before the E70's official birth could not have intended that folk would begin to piece together this puzzle without the benefit of all of it's parts. Surely we should stifle our humanoid nature to form opinions on what we know or think we know or question what the future might hold. It's all so pointless. So I am throwing my hat in with wagnerx5.....no more questions, opinions, or speculations on anything until wagner says it's okay. And even when he does approve, questions, opinions, and speculations....I'll be sure to look to him for more answers.

Good. And if you take a gander at the E70 posts you will see they are numerous continuations of the same stories.

For sure. I've looked at the post and they are largely rehashes of the same info. It is our right to be redundant, boring, and repetitous if we choose to be. The fact of the matter is, the administrators of this X5 board chose to open this particular forum 9 months before kick-off knowing full well there was precious little information to intelligently discuss. One could ask why, or one could just take the ball and play.

Forums have moderators who guide the flow of discussion on messageboards, and I assume this forum is no different. I will take my posting cues from them, and since there has not been any official lament to the guessing, opinion forming, speculation, and redundancy...I will post whatever speculations I deem fit, as I find them or create them. Your options are to join in or not.

Good Lord, did anyone tell you you couldn't comment on any thing? No they didn't.

Object here is so users do not have to read through the numerous redundant posts...however, if you want to, nobody is stopping you. By all means read through anything you want.

God I love this site. The entertainment is better than TV.

P.S. Wags, it is indeed a good idea to start a single thread that details all the info regarding the new X5. I am in a jam since what I have seen so far doesn't make me like it too much (as opposed to the current style that is) and am thinking about trading in my 05 for a 06. Unfortunately, will I be able to get a new 06 when I do finally see what BMW puts out regarding the 07?

Decisions Decisions...........

Well thank-you. I too thought it was pretty helpful for you/someone to consolidate into a single post the major points that have been discussed, and discussed, and in case we missed something, discussed again. Nicely done.

I feel off of the wagon at the summation, where it appeared to me that there was an effort to dictate what should be discussed and when (if that is a mis-read, it won't be my first or my last). There is evidence that some desire/require a post nanny, I am merely stating, I am not one of them.

My guess would be after the E70 hits the lot you couldn't order a E53. So last year for E53 orders would be 2006 (whenever BMW's cutoff month is). Best bet, call BMWNA and ask when they stop taking 2006 model orders.
