rant: what's everyone's problem with the one piece back? also i think i'll puke if anyone else mentions "minivan" or "mom-mobile" or whatever...look at the demographic for x5 owners (look in the mirror!) do you think bmw would alienate their customer base? sure they'll want to sell more cars, but IMO they have never sold out completely the owners of their current class (insert bangle-butt rants here)

I'm not sure what you mean by "current demographic," but believe it or not, the large majority of X5 buyers are older than 50. I know this because I did a research project (marketing plan) for one of my MBA classes on the X5. Some of the figures we found were truly surprising.

Some X5 owner demographic highlights:

- 85% of X5 owners are between the ages of 36 and 75.
- 54% of X5 owners are between the ages of 36 and 55 -- you know, families with kids. (Can you say "third row seat"?)
- (this is the surprising fact) 31% of X5 owners are between the ages of 56 and 75! (old farts )
- 42% of X5 owners are "post family" (no children and older than 45 years old).
- Median income is $164,000
- 51% male, 49% female. (Have we not talked about how "surprising" we find it that we see so many women driving an X5?)
- 85% of X5 owners have at least some college education; 31% have a post-graduate degree.

i think there is a 76% chance i have a headache. you've made my point...85% btwen 36 and 75, 42% have no children, 31% are 56 to 75. so ***NOT*** a "soccer mom" mobile, etc etc...

ps- 42% have no children. but with the median age appearing that high - how many of those drivers that do have children would require a booster seat or would sit in a third row? looks like many of the children are in college to me...and those infants/young children would likely be a small % of the children, even with more and more women giving birth near 40...
