Does anyone have a build date or an official order in the BMW system as of yet. My dealer is telling me that the system hasn't openned up for 07 X5's, and that we're probably a couple of weeks away.

I'm also wondering if the Power Tailgate is reallly not going to be availible until April. That causes me major pain!! My current lease is up in December and I can't see ordering the car without it. I for one loved the split tailgate.

I thought the E70 still had a split tailgate, irrespective of the power option. I have read April availability for that feature, but your dealer will know for sure.

I'm in the same boat.....I will have to wait for April production to replace my wife's E53 with the E70 because we want the Automatic Tailgate (and possibly the Mineral Green color). The E70 will still have a split gate, but the bottom portion will be shorter and the top portion taller than the E53's. On the E53 the tail lights and license plate were on the bottom half of the gate, but on the E70 they are on the top portion.

Also, in my experience when BMW gives these SOP dates it usually does not change, at least not for the earlier, but sometimes it does get delayed beyond those dates. I was ready to buy an E60 when it first arrived in the US back in the fall of 2003, but I had to wait a full year so that options like NAV, HUD, SAT Radio and Bluetooth became available. So I ended up getting a Sep. 2004 production car.

I don't know much about leasing, but is it not possible to extend the lease on a monthly basis for a few months until the Automatic Tailgate becomes available?

Searched, have read many threads, no where have I seen a definitive arrival. Has this been announced?

I've seen a unique color option, a silver almost chrome look. Is this an option for the 07? Is it currently available on other models?

November last week is definite arrival. See post 18 on sticky on top of E70 fiorum. Are you talking about space gray? Its will also be available on new 3-series coupe and X3. Its similar to the gray color on M5 & M6.
