Sometimes some people are just completely ignorant. Sorry to say that.

E53 X5 4.8is is a top-end performance model!
While E70 X5 4.8i is a basic V8 model - replacing E53 X5 4.4i.

Please do not mix apples with oranges.

Despite E53 4.8is & E70 4.8i have the same type of engine, the settings are very different (also in power & torque output). The settings in E53 4.8si are set for better performance, while in E70 4.8i are set for better milage.

Also E70 is a bit heavier than E53, and even a bit more when ordered with 3rd row seats.

So you should compare performance of E53 with basic V8 (X5 4.4i), and of E70 with basic V8 (X5 4.8i).

So, 0-60mph: 6.8s vs 6.4s

While E53 X5 4.8is (with 0-60mph in 5.9s) should be compared to upcoming E70 top-end performance model.
