+1. Occasionally, I may have a Starbucks Frap, but that stays in the center cupholder throughout the drive and I drink it once I leave the car. I think the pores are small enough so too much liquid won't get through. BMW engineers *usually* don't overlook silly things like that. I mean usually espeically if its a more expensive model.........they forgot to light up the rear window switches and power outlet in the backseat for the X3. (you're left totally in the dark).

I`ll second you on that, a must have: comfort access and vent seats. Had them on a SAAB once, and it was great especially while driving through Fresno in mid-summer.

Cheers,

My grandmother's old MB S430 has the ventilated seats and it is certainly a nice feature although personally to me it feels lacking/underpowered. The same is alos true of Mum's SL500.

Definitely something I would order up on a new car. I've just found out the joys of heated seats in my relatively new (to me) X5 and am addicted already.

For BMW, only ventilated seats will have perforated leather. Heated seats alone don't justify. The ones in my X3 work great (in fact 3rd setting can get too warm). Oh and don't forget the heated steering wheel!

I have ventilated seats in my Saab 9-5 wagon (sorry BMW fans!) and I really like them. Even without the fan blowing, I think they are cooler and more comfortable than unperforated leather. Too bad the ventilated seats on the new X5 are so pricey. I may just settle for the perforated version.
