Don Cherry's E70 Gripe Vine

LOL ... that not one E70 has even hit the showroom yet and the laundry list of gripes is growing ...

1). No punch out in the Rear bumper fascia for a trailer hitch installation.

2). Can't order 19" wheels without the Sports Package.

3). No Ride Height adjustment.

4). No side air bags as an option for 2nd row passenger seats ...only head side air curtain airbags.

5). No air bags at all for the 3rd row mini seats !

6.) What is that Mystery Interior seat colour: Teracotta vs. Tobacco vs. Saddlebrown ???

7). Diesel Engine availability.

8). When you order both Comfort Seats and the Sports Package ... You pay a premium by paying for two seating options [Sport + Comfort] and you only get one delivered = [Comfort].

9). 6-CD Changer will be housed in the front glove compartment ... so where do you put your gloves ??

10). ....Feel free to add to the list ... my fellow passionate X5worlders !!

Bo,
A pretty good list, imo.
Who the hell is "Don Cherry" ?! ...I had to think a minute:
it must be the HNInCDA guy, 'cause the great jazz trumpeter,
also Don Cherry, has been dead about a decade and I doubted
the singer/golfer "Don Cherry" commented on Xs.

A reach for all of us "below the GWN Border" gang.

agreed. except i think #2 should be 20", not 19".

and regarding #1... is he suggesting that there is NO trailer hitch option?? because we know it's an option... although i haven't seen any pictures or pricing on the details.

Don Cherry (the one who's not a late Jazz trumpeter and father of Eagle Eye and Neneh)is a CBC Hockey commentator, former player and coach, and sometimes the best reason not to flip channels in between periods!

I used to see him in Toronto from time to time when I was a high roller.

11) No turbo 6-cylinder engine!

BTW, I never acitivated the side airbags in my X5. I've heard that kids leaning or sleeping against the door can get seriously injured, similar to what happens with the front airbags.

That's true. BMW will make you sign a waiver to active the rear side airbags.

11. No manual transmission available
12. I still don't understand why BMW can't design a set of decent gauges (is there even an oil temp gauge?).
13.What's with the electronic parking brake?
14. I hope the window switches are in the right place
15. I'm willing to bet the engine's gonna be muffled so you can't hear it unless you're beyond 5k rpm.
16. As with most "new" BMWs, the cruise stalk is in the god-knows-worst-place.

JV is quite correct ... Don Cherry was a famous National Hockey League (NHL) coach with the Boston Bruins back when Bobby Orr ruled the hockey world.
Cherry is now a very colorful and opinionated Hockey commentator with the CBC TV network ...and is rightfully nicknamed the "Gripes".
